Strategic Environmental Assessment of Sarajevo Canton

2009–2010

CEDES prepared a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of the Sarajevo Canton spatial plan, for the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Physical Planning and Environment, analysing the current situation across all sectors – economy, transport, tourism, energy, renewable energy sources, agriculture, forestry, rural development, and industry – and determining the environmental impact of development in each.

Particular attention was given to the impact of the transport, energy, forestry, and agriculture sectors on Sarajevo Canton's environment – air pollution, noise, water quality, land contamination, biodiversity, forest condition, and health impacts – using GIS for spatial data presentation and mapping. The assignment was funded by the World Bank, worth EUR 102,878.
