The main aim of the research is to contribute to the sustainable economic recovery of households that suffered damage due to massive floods and landslides in 2014 in BiH. The goal of CEDES activities was to identify resources, as well as the human and technical capacities of selected households, in order to define a support program that would increase the income of these households. This includes assessing the impact of floods and landslides on 965 previously selected households, identifying opportunities, capacities and needs at the household, community and local economy levels and defining support tailored to the needs of each household, and in line with local priorities.
The survey was conducted in 44 local self-government units:
Republic Srpska (24 local self-government units): Banja Luka, Bijeljina, Bratunac, Brod, Doboj, Donji Žabar, Gradiška, Jezero, Kostajnica, Laktaši, Lopare, Modriča, Novi Grad, Petrovo, Prijedor, Prnjavor, Šamac, Teslic, Ugljevik, Vlasenica, Zvornik, Sekovici.
Federation of BiH (20 local government units): Cazin, Doboj Istok, Domaljevac, Samac, Gorazde, Gracanica, Kakanj, Maglaj, Odzak, Orasje, Sapna, Tesanj, Travnik, Tuzla, Zarevac, Zenica, Zepce, Srebrenik.
The research was conducted in the period 20.04.2018. - November 30, 2018, year.
The main activities carried out by CEDES are:
1. Testing of the LNA methodology,
2. Interviewing users at specified locations and creation of comprehensive database of population and livelihood needs,
3. Interviewing representatives of the private sector, local authorities and other relevant actors,
4. Analysis, reporting and ranking of users, as well as creation of support packages – intervention measures (agriculture, employment and self-employment packages).
